Description
The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is seeking the provision of resources to supplement the ANAO audit team with the financial statement audit of Centrelink and examination of the control environment over the benefit payment and debt management processes along with performance of related substantive audit procedures on the benefit payment types processed by Centrelink on behalf of other agencies.The payments processed by Centrelink on behalf of other agencies are varied in type and amount.Some examples are:·Age Pension, Carer Allowance and Carer Payment (Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs);·New Start Allowance, Disability Pension, Parenting Partner & Single, Widow Allowance, Partner Allowance (Department of Employment and Workplace Relations);·Youth Allowance (Department of Education, Science and Training); and·Exceptional Circumstances Relief Payments (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry).These payments and related transactions are reported in the relevant agencies’ financial statements and in the appropriation note to the Centrelink financial statements.The proposed contract will be for three years, with an option of a further two years, commencing with the 2007-08 audit.The audit work is expected to be completed by the 2nd week of July each year.
