WA East Metropolitan Health Service
Generic Wireless Monitoring and Recording System
Details
Description
The Pharmacy area of Royal Perth Hospital contains a large number of widely dispersed equipment such as fridges, freezes and other equipment whose temperature needs to be monitored for Quality Assurance requirements.
The current system uses cheap electronic Thermometers, whose readings are manually recorded on paper by Ward staff and transferred to the QA system around twice per day.
EMHS requires to replace the current system with a new system to meet the following objectives.
- An automatic monitoring system to offer a more cost-effective, flexible, expandable and reliable long-term monitoring solution.
- To improve recording, reviewing and reporting of logged historical data.
- Improved alarm notification, response, reporting and tracking accountability in addressing alarms.
- Reduce human error & forgetfulness.
- FTE time savings as the recording of paper results is no longer a human task.
- Provide a backup to the existing Facilities Management monitoring system.
- Records & calibration data kept in digital form not paper.
- To address the requirements from statuary bodies (like NATA, TGA) for QA monitoring.
- Reduce monitoring, service and maintenance requirements and workload.
- In the event of equipment failure eliminate the loss of valuable drugs/reagents /cultures.
- Future equipment replacement assessment based on long term performance/drift/repeated failure or trends.
- WA Health wide multi-client access of data from a central server through a web browser.
- Supports a wide range of diverse sensors to cater for future expansion to other Departments and Sites.
- Provide a low cost, low maintenance system that is simple to maintain and operate.
