PROVISION OF SCREENINGS, GRITS, BIOSOLIDS, SLUDGES, GENERAL, RECYCLABLE & ORGANIC WASTE TRANSPORT

This tender involves the collection & transportation of screenings, grits, sludges and biosolids from various Gippsland Water, Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, to appropriate disposal or treatment locations. It also involves the collection and transportation of general and organic wastes and recyclables from multiple Gippsland Water business and operational sites.

Screenings are removed from influent sewage and are made up of large non-biodegradable solids such as rags and strings. Influent sewage also contains significant amounts of sand and grit. Each of these waste streams are separated and contained within specific bins. Biosolids refers to dewatered (semi-solid) sludge from Wastewater Treatment Plants. Sludges refers to dewatered (semi-solid) water treatment plant waste, liquid water treatment streams and liquid sewage streams.

The recycling and organics collection schedule will include recyclables such as metal, plastic, and paper, and compostable waste refuse (food, green waste). We are looking for the successful contractor to have the capability to collect, transport and dispose of these recyclable and compostable wastes to appropriate disposal facilities to ensure the maximum recycling benefit is realised.

The majority of sites that require general waste and recycling waste transport services utilise bins and containers that are owned by the contractor and charged as a rental.
