The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for DILGP-0421-17 Preparation of a Master Plan for the Southport Spit.
The Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning is seeking to appoint a consortium to prepare an comprehensive master plan for the Southport Spit (The Spit), which will form the basis of informing future development and preservation on the site, and subsequently an amendment of statutory planning provisions.
The consortium is to be led by a senior, experienced representative to ensure overall accountability and performance, and to deliver the State Government’s commitment for a master plan for The Spit within 18 months. The Contract will require the undertaking of a detailed major urban design exercise to deliver the desired outcome of a high standard tourism and commercial development; while preserving and enhancing the outstanding recreational and environmental features of the area. Consequently, the consortium will need to include experienced town planners, urban designers, economists, environmental scientists and landscape designers that can demonstrate successful outcomes in the design and delivery of a complex mixed-use development and conservation outcome.
