Description

As part of the Data Driven Discoveries Program, under the Australian Government’s Strategic Basin Plans, Geoscience Australia will combine new and old data to better understand the Adavale Basin in central-western Queensland. The initiative is part of the Cooper-Adavale Strategic Basin Plan - the third basin plan to be delivered under the Australian Government’s Gas Fired Recovery initiative. A key component of the Program is aimed at improving the understanding of the stratigraphy, unit correlations and basin resource prospectivity of the Adavale Basin.

As a component of this project, Geoscience Australia proposes to carry out chemostratigraphic analyses on ~10-15 wells across this basin, totalling up to 1500 core or cutting rock samples to better establish chemostratigraphic correlations based on changes in elemental and isotopic geochemistry.
