Panel of Alternative Bus Transport Providers

Queensland Rail provides regular scheduled long distance services on the Queensland Rail Travel Network (QR Travel Services), every day of the year (except Christmas Day).

Upon purchasing a ticket, customers enter into a contract of carriage between themselves and Queensland Rail (Conditions of Carriage).

Under certain conditions Queensland Rail has an obligation to deliver the QR Travel Services regardless of whether or not the train is operational.

During times of planned and unplanned QR Travel Service disruptions Queensland Rail at its discretion can replace trains with an alternative mode of transport at their discretion, including taxi, coach or air services.

Total vehicle requirements for each planned or unplanned disruption will be dependent on actual or anticipated patronage demand for each QR Travel Service affected by the disruption.

Queensland Rail is calling tenders for Queensland Rail Alternate Customer Transport Services (ACTS). The purpose of this tender is to establish a panel of Service providers that Queensland Rail may from time to time call upon to provide ACTS. This document outlines the specifications to be considered in tendering for ACTS. Where possible it is Queensland Rail’s intention that ACTS should replicate as near as possible the service delivery standards of the scheduled long distance train.
