Description
Defence Science & Technology Group (DST Group) is seeking to purchase a High Performance Computer (HPC) cluster, including a file storage solution, to execute Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. The processing load from these simulations will span the entire cluster and will consist of either: one or more large-scale jobs; two numerous small-scale jobs; or three a mix of both.The CFD software employed for this purpose is the finite-volume based solver ANSYS Fluent, as well as several other CFD codes which will not be available to DST Group or the vendors during the tender process (however the system specifications outlined in this document include the hosting and hardware requirements for these codes). With the right configuration, these (memory-bandwidth and processor intensive) software packages are capable of efficiently solving CFD problems in parallel across several thousand CPU cores.
