SDMP Action 25 - Local Council Support - NSWRA-06082024-1503

Through the development of the SDMP, local councils and their peak bodies underscored the importance of increased ongoing resourcing to fulfill their role in natural hazard risk reduction. As the closest level of government to the community, local councils play an important role in the disaster risk reduction framework. The importance of this role is further increased by their future responsibilities in developing and delivering disaster adaptation plans (DAPs). To deliver DAPs, the appropriate capacity and capability is required across councils, and this must take into account the support provided by, or available from, the NSW Government. The services engaged under this contract will investigate options to support resourcing and capability building in local councils.
