Early Contractor Involvement for Signalling Works

The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA) is committed to commencing passenger services on the Joondalup line extension to Butler by December 2014.
The Major Projects Unit of the PTA has established the Butler Extension Project to supervise and manage the extension of the Joondalup Line to Butler.
Based on lessons learnt from previous projects PTA has adopted a relationship based contracting strategy for the signalling component of the Butler Extension Project. This strategy incorporates the involvement of a highly qualified and experienced contractor during the design development and pricing phases of the signalling works. This process is commonly referred to as early contractor involvement (or ECI).
The use of an ECI process for the signalling work is expected to benefit the Butler Extension Project by involving the Signalling ECI Contractor as an integrated part of the project team, allowing any design or interface issues to be collaboratively addressed to the benefit of the Project.

PTA is seeking proposals from suitably qualified companies to provide the design services under the ECI agreement with the intention of proceeding into entering into a design and construction contract to undertake the construction of the signalling works.
