WA Police Force
Leavers Western Australia Sexual Health Outreach and Chill Out Tent Management
Details
Description
Each year, approximately 10,000 school leavers travel to the South West, Western Australia (WA), at the end of November to celebrate the end of their schooling.
Events are held throughout the Leavers week period, supported by a large number of Government, private and not for profit agencies. As part of the ‘Management by Event’ approach to Leavers celebrations, leavers are able to purchase a wristband entitling access to Leavers-only activities, such as the Entertainment Zone (The Zone) and support services.
The Chill Out Tent is a designated space, delineated by a structure and fencing, within the The Zone which aims to provide a welcoming and safe space for leavers to ‘chill out’ and take a break during the evening celebrations. The space also provides active support and monitoring for leavers who may be affected by alcohol and/or drugs, or may be experiencing other circumstances for which they need support (e.g. sexual health, relationships).
The WA Police require the services for the provision of Sexual Health and Alcohol and Other Drug prevention and harm reduction education, engagement, outreach and diversionary activities both prior to and during Leavers each November.
