Description

The Marine and Coastal Geoscience Section produces a suite of seabed geomorphology mapping spatial data products that comprise point, line and polygon vector layers that are attributed with geometric measurements and geomorphic classifications. The classification framework represents a consistent, standardised glossary of seabed morphology and geomorphology feature terms which was developed in collaboration with the International Seabed Geomorphology Mapping Working Group.

To operationalise the classification scheme and apply it to current projects, a standardised symbology catalogue and Style file needs to be developed for implementation in Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

The successful tenderer will undertake the following tasks:

In collaboration with Geoscience Australia,

  • Undertake a background familiarisation of our seabed morphology and geomorphology classification framework and its mapping application in GIS software.
  • Create a catalogue of cartography symbols for polygons (primarily), but may also include points and lines, contained within a Style file (.stylx) for implementation in Esri ArcGIS Pro version 3.2. The Style must be designed for the application of ~500 coastal and marine geomorphology feature classes.
  • Generate a Label attribute abbreviation for ~500 feature classes derived from our classification scheme feature names which would form part of the symbology where appropriate.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and user applied testing of the new Style
