Provision of Management Services for Edel Land

The Department of Parks and Wildlife manages biodiversity, environmental protection and visitor services for the area commonly referred to as Edel Land that includes Steep Point (formally northern end of Carrarang Station). Parks and Wildlife has a requirement for the services of an experienced contractor to live on-site at the Ranger’s Complex to provide on-ground management of the visiting public, provide visitors with information, maintain and upgrade associated service infrastructure including the residence and all out buildings and undertake other land management activities as required.

Edel Land is remote and the contractor will require a high degree of independence, flexibility, practical skills and resourcefulness. The applicant should be accustomed to working without supervision and assistance for extended periods.

The role will report to the District Manager, Shark Bay or delegated officer and requires contact with Parks and Wildlife staff and community members including volunteers, neighbouring pastoralists, adjacent mining lease operators (includes salt harvesting), local Aboriginal people and contractors. As a representative of the department in the district, the contractor will require considerable personal discretion and good public communication and negotiation skills.
