Description
The Jimblebar Beneficiation Project proposes to integrate a deslime plant into the existing Jimblebar mining hub. The purpose of the project is to lift ore quality, reduce carbon emissions and maximise asset value.
The Jimblebar mining hub is owned and operated by BHP and is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Australia, approximately 40km east of Newman, Western Australia. The town of Newman is located approximately 1200km north of Perth and is serviced by an airport and heavy haulage roads.
As part of the project, the Company is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors to gain an understanding of the capacity and capability of available contractors for the proposed project.
Scope Overview:
The proposed project will require the modification and construction of associated processing infrastructure including:
Transfer station modifications;
Conveyor Systems;
Wet Screens;
Desliming Cyclones;
Belt Filtration;
Tailings Thickening and Disposal;
Sample Station;
Stockyard Drainage;
Plant Services;
Electrical and Control Services; and
Non-process infrastructure.
Indicative Timeline:
The project received selection phase approval in Q1 CY2021.
Definition phase approval for the project received in Q4 CY2022
Main construction and commissioning works Q3 CY2025 to Q3 CY2027
Approximate Project Value (CAPEX):
>$1 billion AUD
