Corryong Subsurface Irrigation Construction

North East Water (NEW) are seeking to engage a suitably qualified contractor to successfully design and construct a subsurface irrigation system for the Corryong Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The subsurface irrigation system will complement the current flood irrigation system already installed at the Corryong WWTP and irrigate a field that was previously irrigated through a now removed pivot. Subsurface irrigation has been selected as the preferred irrigation method to mitigate potential for odour generation which impacted nearby residences when operating the pivot.
The contract will be delivered through a Design and Construction contract with desired implementation during the current irrigation season.
The subsurface irrigation system should consider:
• Pump installation in existing irrigation shed utilising existing decommissioned infrastructure where practicable
• Floating offtake installed in the existing winter storage to allow access to the majority of available irrigation water
• Filtration requirements to minimise blockages and fouling in the irrigation system
• Reliability of the system and capability to perform maintenance
• Field to be used for pasture growth and livestock grazing
• The area to be irrigated is approximately 10ha
North East Water is proposing that the electrical and control components of the project will be implemented by the NEW Industrial Control Systems team with control and automation of the irrigation system to be integrated into existing SCADA system. The contractor is expected to liaise with NEW ICS team to implement this project.
NEW are requesting a suitably qualified contractor to consider the requirements for the project and to propose a method, timeframes, costs and set of outcomes to achieve the above objectives.
