Description

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS), a division of the Department of Environment and Science (DES), requires the services of an experienced contractor to design and construct a 12m High Speed Aluminium Barge.
The vessel is to fulfil the day-to-day management role within Marine Parks, performing a range of tasks including; marine protected area management, island national park management, compliance operations, incident response, diving operations and research. Based in Brisbane, it will operate primarily in South East Queensland waters including the Moreton Bay Marine Park, and Great Sandy Marine Park. Much of the vessels work will be in offshore waters out to 30 nautical miles from land.
It is expected the new vessel will operate at sea between 150 – 200 days per year, with up to 5.5 tonnes of deck cargo or 22 persons on day trips.
