Provision of Cable Routes, Blown Fibre Ducts & Fibre Implementation

The PTA is undertaking a project to replace all Kingfisher Remote Terminal Units (RTU) along the Joondalup, Midland, Armadale and Fremantle lines with the Schneider M580 model RTU.

As a technical pre-requisite, Optical Fibre is required to the locations the M580 will be implemented to meet technical requirements, enhance reliability and align with industry best practice.

Phase 1 – Section 1 - Victoria Park to Kenwick (Includes Trial site in Cannington area) – 5.800km to 16.560km, Armadale Line:
• Provision of approved Safety Management Plan and other documentation in relation to mobilisation (See Book 4);
• Supply of blown fibre duct system with its associated parts/equipment;
• Supply of the required optical fibre cables;
• Supply of the required cable containment system (i.e. including pits and pipes) that will be suitable for installation of single mode optical fibre cables;
• Supply and install of the required undertrack crossings (or trenchless excavations);
• Supply of new location cases where required and associated parts/equipment (including concrete slab, earth rods, handrails, etc.);
• Pre-works site survey utilising existing completed surveys/design and protecting existing PTA services in all worksites;
• Undertaking topographical surveys prior and during the installation of undertrack crossings and provide methodology for PTA Track and Structures approval;
• Preparation, setup and reinstatement of lay down area;
• Vegetation clearing required for the cable and containment system installation works;
• Cable containment system installation. Tenderer to identify proposed methods for each location where new containment is required;
• Blown fibre duct installation by utilising existing and newly installed cable containment system;
• Fibre cables installation (i.e. air blowing, splicing);
• Supply and installation of FOBOTs at location cases and Relay Rooms/Communications Rooms;
• Testing and commissioning of completed works with completed Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) documents (including Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (ODTR) testing for fibre cables from both cable ends);
• Provide hydro mulch finish in the area that requires revegetation;
• Undertaking final topographical surveys for development of ‘as constructed’ drawings and completing all related technical and safety documentation for trenchless excavations (refer to 8110-400-030);
• Production of redline drawings during construction; and
• Provide ‘as constructed’ drawings for the works completed under the Contract.
