Ausrtalian Government - Bureau of Meteorology
Supply of Digital Meteorological Barometers
Details
Description
The barometer is a meteorological instrument that provides measurements of atmospheric pressure. These measurements are vital in allowing the Bureau to fulfil its role in weather forecasting, climatology and support of aviation operations.
The current barometer is an electronic aneroid instrument with ancillary digital circuitry that allows the instrument to be used on its own, or integrated into meteorological stations on land or at sea. Many of these meteorological stations are Automatic Weather Stations (AWS's).
With the Bureau's current generation of barometer models at end-of-life, it will become increasingly difficult for the Bureau to maintain an adequate supply of calibrated barometers for its extensive observation network. The intent of this Request for Tender is to establish a Standing Offer arrangement for the supply of digital meteorological barometers to satisfy future demand and availability requirements.
