Description

The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services provides funding to non-government organisations to support vulnerable families to address multiple and/or complex needs and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children. This investment aims to strengthen the protective factors within the family to ensure vulnerable children and young people can safely live at home, and for families to:

  • become stronger and more resilient
  • have improved connection to family, culture and community
  • have improved life skills
  • be safe and protected from harm.

Intensive Family Support is a consent-based program that responds to vulnerable families with children and young people (unborn – under 18 years) who are at high risk of involvement in the statutory child protection system. IFS case managers work collaboratively with families to identify and prioritise their presenting needs and provide intensive support interventions and engagement with specialist services.
