Independent Reporting Services for Special Guardianship

The Department of Communities (Communities) is committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities that come into contact with the child protection system. Where a protection order (special guardianship) (SGO) application proposes that special guardianship of an Aboriginal child be vested with a sole or joint non-Aboriginal special guardian/s, Communities must give the Children’s Court of Western Australia (the Court) a written report. Communities requires the services of a Contractor to prepare a written report from an independent Aboriginal perspective on cultural appropriateness of the proposed special guardian/s’ capacity to meet the child’s cultural needs.
