The Commonwealth Government committed $2 billion of funding to support the delivery of additional Social Housing. The Social Housing Accelerator Payment (Accelerator) is a one-time payment specifically designated for this purpose.

The SA Housing Authority (the Authority) will lead the procurement of capital grants to fast-track the development and delivery of new social housing solutions.
Projects that leverage Accelerator grant funding must be able to commence delivery of social housing in 2024.

Capital grant funds are for social housing development costs only and must be able to commence delivery of social housing in 2024. If you elect to submit a proposal that features further elements (e.g., affordable housing, market housing, shared community spaces) and you will require additional funding for these components it is at your risk. All social housing is expected to be delivered in line with the objectives of this procurement.

The objective of this stream-lined procurement is to:
•Maximise housing outcomes: The Government aims to make the most effective use of available funds to increase housing available to South Australians in need.
•Achieve best outcomes: This initiative seeks to harness the Community Housing sector’s capability and expertise, and through strong collaboration create a comprehensive and effective approach to addressing our community's housing challenges.
•Equity and inclusivity: An underlying principle of this procurement is to ensure equity and inclusivity in the provision of social housing solutions. We are dedicated to addressing the needs of marginalised and vulnerable populations, making housing accessible to all members of our community.
