Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (Temporary Supported Accommodation and Mobile Support) - Brisbane Local Government Area

The Department of Housing and Public Works is seeking proposals for the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (Temporary Supported Accommodation and Mobile Support) – Brisbane Local Government Area (LGA).

During the 2015 Queensland State Election, the Queensland Government committed to the reintroduction of diversionary programs including the Drug Court. In August 2017, the Penalties and Sentences (Drug and Alcohol Treatment Order) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2017, was introduced to Parliament, providing the legal basis for the reintroduction of the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (QDAC).

The QDAC is a diversionary program for drug and alcohol dependent adult offenders, in which participants are sentenced to a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Order as an alternative to prison.

The department is seeking to purchase Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) offering Temporary Supported Accommodation (TSA) and Mobile Support (MS) and Crisis Accommodation Program (CAP) Property and Tenancy Management servcies for participants of the QDAC who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

The key outcomes are to deliver SHS (TSA and MS) and CAP services to a minimum of 12 participants of the QDAC at any one time, and assist them to secure long-term housing solutions and, more broadly, reduce drug and alcohol dependency and recidivism.
