Increasing Family Based Care in Northern Region - Cairns.

The Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women seeks submissions to provide:

40 kinship care places to support children and young people in Cairns.

Service operating hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm

After hours and closure arrangements: The service operates an after-hours service for placements and carer support requirements outside of normal business hours.
Service delivery period: 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2023

The service will be required to:
• identify and assess potential kinship carers for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous children and young people
• provide a service that includes provision of professional counselling/mediation supports to Kin carers, children and young people and extended family members
• provide trauma informed training to kinship carers tailored to address the family connections unique to a kin care arrangement.
