Description
The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA) is responsible for the operation of all bus, train and ferry public transport services in the greater metropolitan area under the Transperth brand. It also operates public transport services in regional centres, operates road coach and rail passenger services to regional areas under the Transwa brand, and administers and manages School Bus Services (SBS). Under the Rail Safety Act 2010 and Rail Safety Regulations 2011, Transperth Train Operations is responsible for the safe operation of the Perth Urban rail passenger services, including responsibility for ensuring the safe functioning of escalators, where present, at each station. Escalators on the Joondalup line and Perth train station are reaching the end of their life cycle as such a program to renew them over a 3 year period is required to ensure their ongoing reliability and using latest technology reducing maintenance and downtime.
