WA Public Transport Authority
Supply and Delivery of Buses to the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia
Details
Description
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is responsible for the operation of all Bus, train and ferry public transport services in the greater Perth metropolitan area under the Transperth brand. The PTA owns all Transperth Buses, the majority of Bus depots and the Transperth ticketing system. It controls and sets all routes and service standards. It also manages the Bus Fleet replacement program and 11 Bus service contracts operated through specialist Bus service contractors. The contractors are responsible for the daily service operations and maintenance of PTA Buses.
The PTA has adopted an 18 year maximum rigid Bus life policy for the metropolitan Bus fleet. Working on the maximum economic life of 18 years, Transperth intends replacing one eighteenth of the metropolitan Bus fleet on an ongoing basis. Sustaining the 18-year replacement cycle will require ninety (90) “rigid equivalent” Buses to be procured annually for reasons of the strategic asset management cycle.
The PTA is therefore seeking a supplier that is committed to supporting assembly of the Buses in Western Australia to support the local manufacture and whole-of-life maintenance and materials supply of the Buses.
