Description

The Children's Court of Western Australia (the 'Court') is part of the Court and Tribunal Services Directorate within the Department of Justice ('DoJ').

The Court is responsible for:

  • Determining offenses alleged to have been committed by young people between the ages 10 and 17 years (inclusive); and
  • Dealing with protection and care applications where there is a concern a child needs protection because of a threat of abuse or neglect.

The role of the Panel is to interview children and their families who are the subject of an application for protection and care and submit findings in report format as directed by the Court.

These reports will relate to a range of issues regarding the welfare and care of these children. The Court will require information relating to issues such as, but not limited to:

  • Abuse;
  • Neglect;
  • Accomodation; and
  • Parental suitability

The purpose of these reports is to better inform the decision-making process within the Court.
