Design and Construction of the Kenwick Rail Freight Facility and Permanent Way

The PTA has acquired land at Kenwick and will build a new facility on a “like-for-like or modern day equivalent” basis to replace that currently operating at Bellevue. The Works under this Contract are fully detailed in the specifications and drawings (Book 4) and include the following:

1. Design of the Facility and Permanent Way
2. Engineering assurance of the works following Engineering Management for Projects (EM4P)
3. Design, installation, testing and commissioning of the utilities to the Facility including the fire suppression system and all associated approvals
4. Protection works to utilities as required
5. All temporary works required including access roads, temporary site buildings and site utilities
6. Pavement construction for the internal roads, car park, storage areas, truck reversing, staging bays and hardstands
7. Installation, testing and commissioning of the facility infrastructure including Flash Butt Welding infrastructure, Long Rail and Rail mounted Gantry Cranes
8. Installation, testing and commissioning of the rail interconnection of the Kenwick Facility to the adjacent rail freight line. Works to be undertaken under Planned Possessions.
9. Construction of the Administration Building, Flash Butt Weld amenities and enclosure, gatehouse, grinder storage, QA, bending, grinding and End Prep Sheds.
10. Installation, testing and commissioning of the Internal Yard Permanent Way including turnouts, intermodal track, rail loading track, short term storage track and grinder storage track
11. Installation of the asphalt surface to internal roads, level crossings and hardstand where required
12. Installation, testing and commissioning of the power, signalling and communications for the Facility and Permanent Way.
13. Relocation of Arc’s Supplied Infrastructure including the Flash Butt Welder, the Long Rail Gantry, other rail inventory and spare items to Kenwick Rail Freight Facility.
14. Testing, Commissioning, Bringing into Service and Handover of the works to the PTA including Arc Infrastructure Acceptance Certificate.
