WA North Metropolitan Health Service
New Telephony System Required for the Western Australian Poisons Information Centre
Details
Description
The Western Australian Poisons Information Centre (WAPIC) provides expert phone advice on actual or suspected poisonings to health care professionals and members of the public in WA, SA and NT (at times, nationally).
The service operates 14-20 hours/day, handling approximately 40,000 phone calls annually, 7 days/week, WAPIC co-operates with the three other Australian poisons information centres to provide a 24/7 national service.
The current phone system does not meet the Australian Standard for Health Contract Centres (AS:5205:2019), specifically in terms of inability to record calls or respond to variable demand on the service. Further, the current system does not have functionality to all WAPIC staff to work from remote workspaces.
