Description
The Department of Parks and Wildlife - West Kimberley District requires the supply and delivery of a passenger ferry of up to 11.99 metres measured length for the purpose of conducting tours of Geikie Gorge on the Fitzroy River WA and the vessel is to be based at Geikie Gorge, just to the north of Fitzroy Crossing.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife has been running vessel-based tours at Geikie Gorge from the mid 1970’s and during this time it has become one of the iconic scenic tours in the Kimberley. The Department is seeking a new passenger ferry to carry this world-renowned tour into the next decade.
The ferry should have a carrying capacity of minimum 80 – with a preference for up to 100 passengers and draw 0.5m when fully loaded. The design should be such that it can load passengers from the front or from the port side to cater for variable conditions on the river. Consideration shall also be given to access for disabled passengers.
