The Western Australia Police (WA Police), through its Radio and Electronic Services Unit (RESU), operates a fleet of David Horn Communications Ltd (DHC) (United Kingdom) Digital Video Interview of Suspects (DVIS) equipment in both desktop and portable configurations currently totalling 296 units. The DVIS units are a unique 4 disk drive DVD recording unit comprising of pre-manufactured and custom DHC boards customer built specifically for digitally recording the audio/video of interviews conducted by police officers.
The equipment has recently been maintained under a service contract. It must be noted that WA Police have experienced high failure rates with the units and given the extreme critically of the requirement, it will be necessary for the prospective Contractor to liaise closely with RESU so as to work through the inherent issues with a view to ultimately establishing a reliable product.
