QLD Department of Housing and Public Works
Dignity First Fund
Details
Description
The Dignity First Fund (the Fund) is a state-wide Fund that has been introduced to build these vital services. The Fund has been developed to assist homeless people to meet their immediate needs in a way which reduces the impact of homelessness on the person or family.
This new Fund will sit alongside the Department of Housing and Public Works' (the department) existing strategies to address homelessness through the provision of targeted funding for innovative approaches to deliver and build a sense of dignity for people who are homeless. This funding will allow for that extra bit of support that can make a real difference to a person’s experience of homelessness.
The department is undertaking this Invitation to Offer process to fund innovative responses that support people experiencing homelessness to live with dignity and improve their quality of life outcomes.
The Fund will deliver start-up funding and small capital works grants for innovative, immediate services and support that assist people experiencing homelessness to live with dignity.
$2,000,000 in one-off funding is proposed to be available in 2016/17 across the following three categories:
- Innovation Funding – for organisations to deliver innovative immediate responses to people experiencing homelessness to live with dignity.
- Start-up Funding - start-up funding for social entrepreneurs to implement innovative responses to homelessness that assist people experiencing homelessness to live with dignity.
- Small Capital Grants - funding for organisations providing homelessness services to upgrade existing facilities that assist people experiencing homelessness to live with dignity.
Further detail relating to this Fund and the Invitation to Offer is provided within the accompanying three-part suite of documentation.
