Material Handling Equipment - Light Telehandler

This acquisition seeks to procure 16 rough terrain Light Telehandler forklifts, and associated Integrated Logistic Support elements such as maintenance documentation and training packages, to meet the material handling and towing capability needs in support of the M777A2 Lightweight 155mm Towed Howitzer artillery gun.

The Light Telehandler will be a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution with enhanced characteristics and essential military modifications to ensure it complies with all State and Federal regulations and is also able to fulfil the user requirements. The Light Telehander is to be transported on road by the appropriate service prime mover and trailer, by sea, by air in medium lift aircraft or as a slung load under a Chinook helicopter and, by rail.

The light Telehander will primarily be used to lift, manoeuvre and position cargo and palletised ammunition around a gun/unit position and onto various other heavy lift vehicles within an operational environment. The light Telehander will also be used to conduct limited redeployment of the M777 on the firing position, and may also be used to manoeuvre other light cargo trailers and equipment around the firing position to enable deployment, firing and re-deployment activities.
