Australian Government Department of Defence
Personal Propulsion System
Details
Description
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has diving elements, providing Maritime Counter Terrorism and Force Projection capabilities in support of Australia’s National Security. These diving elements are inserted by sea and air.
The improvements in technology of detection systems in use by other Nation’s agencies has resulted in the need to undertake insertion activities at greater distances from the target. The physical endurance of ADF divers limits the distance from which personnel can be safely inserted. The acquisition of a man-packed lightweight subsurface propulsion system will allow divers to be inserted at a distance outside the detection zone, and arrive on target fit to undertake the directed activity.
