Provision of Services for the construction of a groundwater model for the Northern Perth Basin

The purpose of this project is to develop a groundwater model for the Northern Perth Basin. The basin covers the area of rapid increases in demand in the Midwest. This encompasses significant increases in mining interests, expansion of regional centres and potential large irrigations in the area. The groundwater model will assist the process of statutory water resource allocation planning by the Department of Water (DoW).

A conceptual groundwater model is to be developed based on available information, and a numerical model constructed to calibrate and validate against field data. The numerical model is to be tested under a number of scenarios of changes in climate, land use, and water abstraction. Adequate training of DoW key staff in using the model is to be provided.

It is expected that the work will be completed within 30 weeks.
