The West Musgrave Project is a major copper-nickel sulphide deposit located in the Musgrave Province. The Project's Pre-Feasibility Study has confirmed it can be a low carbon, low cost, long life mine producing copper and nickel, both in-demand minerals for the renewable and electrification industries. The further Pre-Feasibility Study update saw an uplift to the scale and value of the project, with improvements to key Project metrics while maintaining the 26-year mine life. BHP is also investigating innovative off-grid renewable power and processing solutions, underpinned by up to 80 per cent renewable electricity generation from solar and wind for the Project. The Project will contribute to social and economic benefits for regional communities and the State of Western Australia.
