Department of Housing - Support Services & Accommodation Management for the South Hedland Employment Related Accommodation (ERA) Facility - Mirnutharntu Maya
The Department of Housing in partnership with BHP Billiton Iron Ore, the Pilbara Development Commission and the Commonwealth Department of Social Services are establishing Employment Related Accommodation (ERA) to provide support services targeting Aboriginal apprentices and trainees in South Hedland.
The Department of Housing is the lead agency for this initiative and is seeking responses from charities, not-for-profit organisations or Local Government Authorities to provide services and manage the ERA facility.
The key objective for providing effective supported accommodation at the South Hedland ERA facility is to increase the rate of Aboriginal employment in the Pilbara.
Preference for access to the ERA will be given to West Australian Aboriginal people from remote communities aged 16 to 25, but all apprentices and trainees will be welcome to apply for a place in the facility.
The ERA is to be built on a portion of the Pundulmurra campus of the Pilbara Institute in South Hedland. Accommodation and facilities will be provided for 48 residents, for staff and for short term visitors.
The services to be sought through this Request are:
• Provision of support services to residents to achieve their qualifications and learn life skills
• Management of the practical aspects of the accommodation (including catering, maintenance and administration)
