Myalup Primary Industries Reserve - Groundwater and Surface Water Monitoring - Sample Collection

Background The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to collect surface water and groundwater samples as part of the Myalup Primary Industries Reserve (MPIR) surface water and groundwater monitoring program. (Note: sample analysis will be undertaken under separate contract). DPIRD is investigating soil suitability and water resource options to support the expansion of horticulture at Myalup. This includes the proposed Myalup Primary Industries Reserve (MPIR), a staged land development release to repurpose approximately 1,500ha of State Forest 16 in the Myalup region, from plantation forestry to irrigated agriculture. The proposed MPIR runs adjacent to the existing Myalup Irrigation Agriculture Precinct (MIAP), a significant horticulture area spanning over 2,250ha of irrigated horticultural crops. This horticultural precinct is ideally located, with easy access to domestic and international transport links. The proposal is located to the east of the Forrest Highway, extending from Goss Road in the north to Boonilup Road in the south. The proposal is within the Shire of Harvey’s local government area, approximately 140 kilometres south of Perth.
