Description
Blundells Cottage and its surrounds is a place of Commonwealth Heritage value, located in the heart of the national capital, Canberra.
The NCA requires an innovative Heritage Landscape Masterplan for Blundells Cottage that is sensitive to the heritage values of the site, and Kings Park.
The primary objective of this project is to creatively provide a more historically appropriate landscape setting for Blundells Cottage that interprets the nineteenth and early twentieth century pastoral character of the area. The new setting needs to be sympathetically integrated with the landscape setting of Kings Park, whilst addressing visitor, educational and interpretative needs.
The Masterplan needs to consider:
- The heritage curtilage and setting;
- Education and visitor services
- Accessibility
- Precinct and path integration
- Buildability and cost
- Maintenance
- Sustainability
