Description
The Department of Transport is seeking to build its response capabilities and preparedness for Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) incidents as part of its Hazard Management Authority responsibilities. This necessitates procurement of priority equipment identified in recent training exercises and in the 2024 Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) Business Plan. The project specifically involves the purchase of a replacement fit-for-purpose emergency response 4.8m aluminium positive buoyancy vessel or similar, outboard propulsion machinery, and trailer to replace outdated equipment. Wholistically, this enhances DoT’s Statewide response capabilities across both metro and regional locations. The new vessel will have the ability to undertake monitoring and evaluation, small scale skimming with capacity to deploy booms more efficiently and safely should an incident occur.
