WA Department of Transport
Supply and installation of Multibeam Hydrographic Surveying Equipment
Details
Description
The hydrographic survey operation contributes towards the development and maintenance of maritime facilities, coastal management progress, engineering projects and investigations on behalf of The Department, other government agencies and authorities and where required, on behalf of private industry. The Department has, for over 50 years, carried out this hydrographic surveying function. The operation concentrates on near shore surveys, port and coastal monitoring surveys and dredging programs. Increasingly, there is demand for more detailed surveys to be performed in quicker time.
The Department has determined that Multibeam Hydrographic Survey Systems specifically designed for shallow water use and providing complete seabed coverage will:
(a) Improve the reliability of surveys for navigation hazards and general investigations; and
(b) Improve the time taken to complete chart and clearance surveys.
The Department is now seeking to renew arrangements for Mutlibeam Hydrographic Surveying Equipment.
