Description

Under Section 7 of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992, NHMRC has responsibility for providing high quality, evidence-based health advice to government and the Australian community.

NHMRC is undertaking a revision of the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines (the Guidelines). The Guidelines provide guidance on foods, food groups and dietary patterns that promote health and wellbeing in the general population. The Guidelines are not for people who require specialised diets for treatment of disease or chronic conditions, but they are aimed at preventing chronic conditions.

Evidence scoping and mapping has identified recent, high-quality systematic reviews that are suitable for use. However, key gaps in the evidence have been identified for which the Dietary Guidelines Expert Committee (the Expert Committee) have requested new evidence reviews to be commissioned.

Four evidence reviews are being commissioned: three scoping reviews and one systematic review.
