Secondary to Intensive Family Support for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities, Brisbane Region

The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (the department) provides funding to non-government organisations to support vulnerable families to address multiple and/or complex needs and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children. This investment aims to strengthen the protective factors within the family to ensure vulnerable children and young people can safely live at home, and for families to:

• become stronger and more resilient
• have improved connection to family, culture and community
• have improved life skills
• be safe and protected from harm.

Family Support can be delivered across a continuum of interventions based on family needs. The Brisbane region is seeking offers to provide a continuum of family support for families whose needs range from ‘vulnerable’ to ‘at risk’ across the department’s Secondary Family Support (SFS) and Intensive Family Support (IFS) funding specifications (See Attachment 1: Families Funding Specification 2016 v6).
The region is also looking for the investment to have a specific focus on responding appropriately to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families and communities.
The new Service S-IFS (CALD) will provide support for families as they move into and through the continuum of support ensuring that the relationship with support workers and links with support services are maintained as family needs change.
