A Western Australia for Everyone: State Disability Strategy 2020-2030 (the Strategy) sets the vision and direction for a more inclusive Western Australia that acknowledges and responds to the value of diversity in our community. The Strategy is implemented through a series of Action Plans, the Second Action Plan outlines whole of community commitments including the State Government, industry, community and the disability services sector, to create a more inclusive Western Australia for people with disability.
To support the outcomes of the Strategy, the State Government announced a $5 million Innovation Fund investing in initiatives that promote and foster the inclusion and participation of people with disability and support their contribution to the community. Innovation Fund Tranche 1, with funding totaling $2.5 million, for projects that improve the economic and social wellbeing of people with disability in Western Australia was announced in April 2022. Funding available for Innovation Fund Tranche 2 is $2.5 million over 2 years which can be distributed to several project/s. The Innovation Fund will enable a variety of new and emerging initiatives focussed on increasing access and inclusion for people with disability. The Innovation Fund is intended to stimulate innovative ways and develop projects that creatively apply new knowledge, technologies or processes that improve inclusion, participation, and independence to enable people with disability to live their best life.
