Automatic Weather Station (AWS) 3G Upgrade

Details

Description

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development requires the upgrade of existing Measurement Engineering Australia (MEA) 3G Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), to ensure they remain compatible with the telecommunication services available.

Current 3G technologies, which the weather stations rely upon will be decommissioned by the end of June 2024, and possibly earlier in some areas. New mobile network offerings are 4G and two data sub-bands: Cat-M1 and IoT-NB, which differ in bandwidth capacity.

DPIRD is seeking to purchase up to 175 new Cat-M1 compliant data logging and communication modules, of which 168 will be used to upgrade the existing 3G AWS stations (specifically those previously provided by MEA) throughout Western Australia (WA), with any remaining to be held as spare on-hand inventory.

DPIRD will, at its sole discretion, award to one or multiple Respondents for each category:
• Category 1 - Supply and Delivery of AWS Hardware; and
• Category 2 – Supply, Delivery and Installation of AWS Hardware.
