WA Department of the Attorney General
Supply, Installation and Commissioning of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Camera Systems on Sheriff's Office Criminal Enforcement Team Vehicles.
Details
Description
In August 2013 the Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices Enforcement Act was amended to provide for further enforcement sanctions being available to the Sheriff in the execution of warrants issued by the Registrar, Fines Enforcement Registry. These increased sanctions include the immobilisation of vehicles (Wheel Clamping) and also the seizure of vehicle number plates.
In October 2014 a pilot project was commissioned for the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition Technology on a single Sheriff’s vehicle. This pilot has been deemed suitably successful and the Sheriff’s Office has received approval to proceed to procurement for this technology to be installed in the remaining four (4) vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office is now calling for quotes for the supply and installation of suitable number plate recognition technology for the four (4) remaining vehicles to assist in the identification of debtor vehicles/individuals subject to outstanding warrants.
