  1. Background

The Prospector and AvonLink high-speed rail vehicles built by United Goninan, Australia, are diesel hydraulic powered passenger cars.

The Prospector diesel powered rail cars operate daily services between East Perth Terminal and Kalgoorlie (655 km). The AvonLink diesel powered rail cars operate weekday services between Midland Terminal and Northam (106 km) and between East Perth Terminal and Merredin (284km) three (3) days per week.

The Prospector fleet consists of seven (7) cars: six (6) driving motor (DM) cars and one intermediate motor (IM) car. The AvonLink fleet consists of two (2) cars, both being DM cars. Train configuration can consist of a two (2) car set of two (2) DM cars or a three (3) car set of two (2) DM cars with an IM Car. Car sets are capable of being operated as multiple units up to seven (7) vehicles making up a train.

Each vehicle is of rigid stainless steel construction with DM cars being fitted with a driving cab at the No. 1 End. All cars feature dual diesel traction and AC power generation systems.

  1. Scope of Requirement

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) requires a Contractor to supply gangway halves and additional sub-component spare parts.
