Supply, Installation, Commissioning, Training and Servicing of One (1) Tissue Arrayer machine for Division of Tissue Pathology, PathWest - Nedlands

PathWest provides pathology services to four major tertiary teaching hospitals, metropolitan and rural public sector hospitals, private medical and pathology practices and regional areas throughout Western Australia.
Anatomical Pathology services at the QEII Medical Centre provide testing on samples referred from the Sir Charles Gardner Hospital site and from remote locations for the following analyses: diagnostic histopathology; cytology; coronial and non-coronial post-mortem examinations; electron microscopy; and molecular pathology.

The workload of the laboratory continues to increase in terms of volume of test referrals and complexity of the referrals from pathologists, oncologists and clinicians. A Tissue Arrayer machine is required by the laboratory to assist with crucial molecular test development work for the detection of DNA mutations that affect the selection of drugs for the targeted treatment of specific cancers in cancer patients. The tissue arrayer produces tissue microarrays (TMAs) which are collections of processed tissue biopsies from multiple patients in conventional paraffin wax blocks relocated on to the same glass slide. TMAs have a central role in the preparation of control material for immunohistochemical stains and validation of genomic and proteomic data generated from high-throughput cDNA arrays.
