Description

New monitoring bores are required to provide valuable data and fill knowledge gaps that will complement and improve the Department of Water’s understanding of groundwater resources across Western Australia. This investigation is part of the Royalties for Regions groundwater investigation projects.

The Department intends to carry out drilling at between five (5) – seven (7) sites. The investigation will lead to:
• Improved information on water availability
• Support regional development by making water an opportunity rather than a constraint.

This drilling programme will install from five (5) to seven (7) monitoring bores on up to seven (7) sites, commencing July 2013. The program includes up to two (2) bores to be completed on Country Downs Station, and up to five (5) other bores at various locations on the western side of the Dampier Peninsula (Figure 1). All bores are to be installed in the Broome Sandstone aquifer. As this drilling makes up part of a regional investigation in an area of limited data, exact depths are unknown, however estimated depths range from 150m to 400m.
Note: The Contract is subject to the DoW obtaining the necessary clearances and permits.
