Description

The Vessel is a converted US Navy Acoustic Minesweeper (AMS 148) reclassified to Netherlands Coastal Minesweeper (MSC 148, “Breskens”) renamed Motor Yacht “Kalbarri,” renamed Research Vessel “PAX”.

The Vessel was donated to the “Project PAX for Veterans of Western Australia Inc.” prior to being removed from navigable waters by the Department.

The hull consists of two layers of old growth Douglas fir on laminated American Oak frames fastened with bronze and stainless steel bolts.

The deck is 75mm old growth Douglas fir fastened with bronze bolts; all other decks are 25mm marine ply fastened with stainless steel bolts.

The Contractor will be required to remove the Vessel from its current location and then sell or dispose of the Vessel and / or its parts. Proceeds of the sale of the Vessel and / or its parts are to be returned to the Principal (see clause 2.3 of the Contract).

Due to the size and state of the Vessel, in order to remove the Vessel from its current location, it is expected that the Contractor will dismantle the Vessel at its current location and remove the Vesselparts in stages.
